Which Milk Is Best? 🥛

Which Milk Is Best? 🥛

The war on milk.
With an absolute myriad of options and the internet’s nature of conflicting information, it’s hard to decide what milk is actually best for us. A lot of us have grown up with milk being a staple in the household – whether it’s paired with orea’s, thrown in a curry, soaked with your cereal or on its own, we’ve become really accustomed to using it. We’ve been told to drink it for ‘good bone health’ yet, the questions always seem to arise ‘should we be drinking cows milk?’
WHY YOU SHOULD SKIP THE DAIRY
We’re not doctors so we can’t tell you what to eat and drink but we can recommend what might be best for your gut health. Dairy in general is known to cause inflammation throughout the body, this is because the main fat found in milk is saturated fat, and diets high in saturated fat can increase inflammation. This means, if you’re suffering with migraines, bloating or skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, or psoriasis, consuming dairy might not be the best thing for you.
If you’re planning on incorporating more nut milks into your diet to replace your normal cow’s milk, here’s a few things you should know.
HIDDEN NASTIES (LIKE... REAL NASTIES)
Make sure you’re reading the labels! Nut milks might seem like a better alternative, but they’re no good if they’re filled with crap (excuse our French). Hiding in a lot of well-known brands (we won’t name names… Oatly *cough* MilkLab *cough* VitaSoy *cough*) add a LOT of things that just don’t add up. Chances are if you take a look at the back of the bottle, you’ll be inundated with plenty of numbers and words you can’t pronounce, like thickeners and gums. Although these ingredients may make the milk taste delicious, these additives are NOT good for your health. You’ll also find a number of these brands using industrial seed oils, such as soybean, corn, canola, rapeseed, and sunflower oils, which can contribute to heart disease, diabetes, autoimmunity, and many more chronic health conditions.
